What concentration of contrast should one administer via the urinary catheter?
The density of iodinated contrast administered need not be as high as for a standard cystogram. Infact, if the contrast instilled via the bladder is too dense it can make holistic CT interpretation more difficult. Urograffin 150 or a similar product is ideal.
A CT cystogram has been performed after approximately 400ml of urograffin contrast has been administered via a urinary catheter. A large volume of contrast is demonstrated in the abdominal cavity consistent with an intraperitoneal urinary bladder rupture.
