Lymphocytic interstitial pneumonitis (LIP) in Sjögren's syndrome

Discussion:

In most cases the diagnosis of Sjögren syndrome (SS) is made clinically based on the sicca syndrome combined with serology of antinuclear antibodies.

This pathology involves in most cases the parotid glands, but the submandibular glands also may be involved.

Interstitial pneumonia is frequently observed in patients with SS, who commonly present with a dry cough.
