Congenital diaphragmatic hernias usually arise as either a Bochdalek hernia or a Morgagni henia.

Bochadalek hernias are the more prevent of the two diaphragmatic hernias. They are often left sided. This is in contrast to the Morgagni hernia, which is usually right sided and less common.
