Osteochondroma - distal radius

Discussion:

As in many cases, the presentation following trauma reveals a longstanding abnormality unrelated to the presentation.

In this case, there is a large bony outgrowth from the lateral surface of the distal radius that projects towards the ulna in the region of the intraosseous membrane. There are not features of an aggressive bone lesion.

Features are of an osteochondroma and there are no accompanying aggressive features.

There is a covering cartilaginous cap, but this is not significantly widened. If further assessment of the cap was required, this could be performed with ultrasound or MRI. Its location may make assessment with ultrasound difficult.
