Polycystic ovaries

Discussion:

Polycystic ovarian morphology is one of the criteria for diagnosing PCOS in one or both ovaries in which there is:

  • enlarged size of the ovary ≥ 10 cc
  • increased number of follicles per ovary (FNPO) ≥ 20
  • peripherally arranged follicles 'String of pearls sign'
  • echogenic central stroma
  • small-sized follicles 2-9 mm
