Adventitial cystic disease of the common femoral vein

Discussion:

Ultrasound features of a cystic lesion within the wall of the right common femoral vein with thick gelatinous fluid content compressing the CFV, most consistent with an adventitial cystic disease.

Cystic adventitial disease is an uncommon vascular pathology affecting mainly the peripheral vessels. Usually occurs in arteries, the venous involvement is extremely rare.

In adventitial cystic disease, an ultrasound-guided aspiration may be considered as an alternative treatment 1.
