Codfish vertebra

Fish vertebra (codfish vertebra) refers to the smooth biconcave appearance of vertebral body in sagittal plane in cross-sectional imaging or lateral view of lumbar radiograph. It can occur in one level or multiple levels. Commonly, it is seen with osteoprosis however it is not pathognomonic as it occurs in other diseases like sickle cell disease, renal osteodystrophy and thalassemia major.
