Caries sicca

Discussion:

Depending on the presentation, shoulder joint tuberculous arthropathy are of three types:

  • type I: caries sicca

  • type II: caries exudata

  • type III: caries mobile

Caries sicca is the classic dry form of tuberculosis of shoulder where the patient present with marked wasting of the shoulder and painful restriction of all movements. There is no pus formation or joint ankylosis as in our case.
