Coalescent otomastoiditis with subperiosteal abscess

Discussion:

Left acute coalescent otomastoiditis complicated with subperiosteal abscess and secondary otitis externa. This is not termed Bezold abscess in view of the location at the postauricular region rather than medial to the sternocleidomastoid muscle/attachement site of posterior belly of digastric muscle or extension into the left masticator space.

Patient has poorly controlled diabetes mellitus, and she was treated with intravenous antibiotic.
