Splenic hemangioma

Discussion:

MRI features suggestive of splenic hemangioma.

Splenic hemangiomas, also known as splenic venous malformationssplenic cavernous malformations, or splenic slow flow venous malformations are considered the most common primary benign neoplasm of the spleen and the second commonest focal lesion involving the spleen after simple splenic cysts. Usually discovered incidentally, occasionally may be associated with abdominal pain or splenomegaly.

The imaging features of splenic hemangiomas are not specific, other solid splenic lesions may have a similar appearance such as hamartoma, littoral cell angioma, sclerosing angiomatoid nodular transformation (fibrosing variant of hamartoma), primary angiosarcoma and metastasis.
