Bladder-containing indirect inguinal hernia

Discussion:

In this patient, the possibilities for inguinal hernial content included omentum, bowel (small, large, appendix), and bladder. The major radiological feature consistent with bladder herniation is continuation of the pelvic bladder with the mass in the hernia.

This patient subsequently received an open right inguinal hernia repair with synthetic mesh. There was evidence of previous herniorrhaphy with tissue repair intra-operatively and this herniation likely represents a recurrence of hernia.  The patient was discharged day 1 post-operatively without complications.
