Oropharyngeal carcinoma

Discussion:

An enhancing mucosal/submucosal infiltrative mass is causing asymmetrical narrowing of the oropharynx. There are two enlarged necrotic lymph nodes in the left jugulodigastric region (group II). Therefore, the stage of this pathology proven oropharyngeal carcinoma is T1N2b (tumor confined to one site and more than one enlarged lymph node below 3 cm). MR is done for local staging only and the patient needs CT to rule out metastasis.

NB The "King..." at the top right of the image is not the patient's name but the start of the institution at which the scan was obtained.
