The presence of bone marrow edema in the medial aspect of the left tibial proximal metadiaphyseal region, without a discrete MRI-detectable mass/lesion, is highly suggestive of stress fracture. However, a CT scan can be considered to rule out the possibility of a small osteoid osteoma.
