Obstructed inguinal hernia

Discussion:

70 year-old male patient came to the emergency department with complaints of abdominal distension, vomiting, pain, and absolute constipation for the last 2 days with a past history of right scrotal swelling for the last 5 years. On x-ray supine abdomen and pelvis showed dilated gut loops which are central in the location associated with a soft tissue shadow in the right inguinal region, containing dilated gut loops without any free gas in the abdominal cavity.

Features suggestive of obstructed right-sided inguinal hernia causing small bowel obstruction.
