Perforation of the small intestine was suspected. CT of the abdomen and pelvis was performed with oral contrast medium. This detected a perforation in the 1st portion of the duodenum showing contrast leakage into the abdominal cavity. When there is diagnostic suspicion, CT with water-soluble oral contrast medium confirms the location and size of the perforation and shows associated complications.
