Motocross accident in the Sahara Desert. Acute wrist swelling and pain. Median nerve symptoms.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Greater arc injury:

Displaced transverse fracture through the waist of the scaphoid.

Small osseous fragments represent intercarpal ligament avulsions.

Palmar luxation of the lunate with displacement of the adjacent flexor tendons and the median nerve.

Case Discussion

Greater arc injuries are perilunate fracture-dislocations usually the result of high-velocity trauma such as in this case.
