Painful swelling and reddening of skin in left side ankle.
Patient Data
There is a wide abnormal intensity with cortical disruption in distal fibula extended within related distal tibia more in fibular side with associated large soft tissue mass widely extended within adjacent muscles and encased related tendons.
Case Discussion
The case illustrates a bulky soft tissue swelling on the lateral side of the left ankle and the first impression was osteomyelitis and biopsy was done the osteogenic sarcoma reported.The major differential diagnosis, in this case, is Ewing's sarcoma. The standard treatment is amputation but nowadays limb salvage can also be done with adjuvant chemotherapy.
