Case contributed by Senai Goitom Sereke
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Chronic bilateral hip pain, for more than seven years.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

Severe joint space narrowing, significant osteophytosis with subchondral sclerosis, and cysts formation in the bilateral hip joints, mainly in the anterosuperior aspect of the joints. Cam morphology of the bilateral femoral head-neck junction.

Case Discussion

Cam morphology is one of the causes of femoroacetabular impingement and is associated with early-onset osteoarthritis as in this middle-aged man who presented with chronic hip pain. The morphology is most prominent in the anterosuperior position of the femoral head-neck junction, which was demonstrated in this case.
