A spontaneously hyperdense formation at the level of the 3rd ventricle, responsible for hydrocephalus with signs of transependymal resorption.

Blue arrow: periventricular hypodensity reflecting transependymal resorption.

Green arrow: dilatation of the temporal horns of the lateral ventricles; which is considered to be the first sign of hydrocephalus.

Case Discussion

Appearance and typical location of the colloid cyst; as a hyperdense formation which occupies the 3rd ventricle, not enhanced after injection of contrast product (which is not carried out in our case unfortunately) often responsible for hydrocephalus which is clinically manifested by signs of intracranial hypertension (colloid cyst is a cause of transient intracranial hypertension).
