Age: 60 years
Gender: Male
Barium

The normal esophageal peristalsis is interrupted by multiple tertiary, non-peristaltic contractions giving the "corkscrew esophagus".

Case Discussion

"Corkscrew esophagus" is present in only 5% of patients with diffuse esophageal spasm, so the manometer is the gold standard for diagnosis.
