Abdominal pain for work-up.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

Round well-circumscribed heterogeneous mass iso-to-hypoechoic to background parenchyma without color Doppler fill.

Right liver hypodense lesion with arterial phase peripheral incomplete enhancement with progressive but incomplete centripetal nodular filling. No other focal liver lesion. Small region of focal fatty infiltration adjacent to ligamentum teres.

Case Discussion

Hepatic hemangiomas can be termed "giant" when large, although the measurement described in the literature can be variable between >4 cm to >10 cm. They have a different appearance on ultrasound compared to "non-giant" hepatic hemangiomas appearing less echogenic and more heterogeneous in echotexture.
