Case Discussion

Iliotibial band syndrome is secondary to continuous friction of the iliotibial band that slides on the lateral femoral condyle, anteriorly and posteriorly to the condyle in extension and flexion of the knee respectively, however tense in both positions. If this condition is maintained for a long time, there may be thickening of the iliotibial band.
