Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

A laterally dislocated patella is seen in axial images associated with an extensive tear of the medial patellofemoral ligament. (MPFL) at its patellar and femoral insertion.

Bone marrow edema at the anterolateral aspect of the lateral femoral condyle.

An extensive knee joint effusion.

Signs of trochlear dysplasia with shallow trochlea, mild hypoplasia of the medial trochlear facette and decreased lateral trochlear inclination (LTI).

Case Discussion

This is a typical case of lateral patellar dislocation associated with a medial patellofemoral ligament injury in a patient with trochlear dysplasia.
