Achilles tendon tear

Presentation

Sport injury one month ago. Persistent pain in the heel.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
mri

The MRI sequences demonstrate a fusiform enlargement of the Achilles tendon with disruption of its deep portion at the critical zone with edema and hemorrhage as well as edema in Kager fat pad.

There is also moderate thickening with increased signal of the distal end of the Achilles tendon with probable calcification as well as bone marrow edema consistent with enthesopathy.

The plantaris tendon remains intact.
