Presentation

Patient presented to the ER with chest pain, shortness of breath, hemoptysis and decrease level of consciousness.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
  • thick-walled cavity with internal septation

  • parenchymal fibrotic bands

  • resolution of the left pulmonary embolism, right and left atrial thrombus

Case Discussion

This case highlights pulmonary cavitation as a sequela of large pulmonary infarction.

Thus, pulmonary infarction should be considered as a potential cause of cavitary lung lesions.
