There is a partially cystic and partially solid tumor within the anterior right temporal lobe.

Case Discussion

The patient had a left-sided craniotomy for resection of the left temporal mass using neuronavigation.

Histology

Gross pathologic examination revealed tan and irregular tissue. Histologically, there were numerous cells with voluminous pink cytoplasm. Immunohistochemistry demonstrated that the lesion was uniformly positive for GFAP and P53. A small portion of the mass was highlighted by NeuN. Chromogranin and synaptophysin highlighted the ganglionic component. Neurofilament and CD34 was largely negative. The Ki-67 was low.

Final diagnosis: ganglioglioma in the left temporal lobe.
